Biography
Conversational, witty, and smart. That's how Lisa Horan's writing style can be described. With over 17 years of professional writing experience, she specializes in the music, film, TV, and video industries. Her articles have been featured in publications such as Mix Magazine, Government Video, iCOM Magazine, Digital TV Magazine, Videography, Architecture Week, avidpronet, The Washington Diplomat, and others. “I've been fortunate to have had the opportunity to interview some of the most intriguing people in the industry - from Hollywood film composers to recording artists, from DPs of death-defying documentaries to editors and producers of children's television programs, and from location sound professionals to celebrity makeup artists,” says Lisa. While many of her articles focus on craft, more often than not, you will find a human element in her work, and many of her articles provide a glimpse into the passions, the journeys, and the unique perspectives of those she interviews. “I feel the reader gains so much more when a more personal viewpoint is expressed. My goal with just about everything I write is to entertain the reader or viewer while informing, educating, and provoking thought.”

With a degree in broadcast journalism from The American University, Lisa started her writing career as a reporter for a small local cable television station, writing a number of television news scripts. Her news pieces have aired both locally and internationally on CNN. Today, in association with production companies and individual clients, she writes scripts for video, live events, and other formats.

Lisa also works with organizations and individuals as a marketing/social media and creative consultant, creating marketing and social media plans, crafting and distributing press and publicity materials, and developing copy for websites, scripts, and other materials. She is the Owner/Executive Director of PopMark Media, a creative media partnership that she operates, alongside business partners Stephen Joseph Antonelli and Kevin Hill, which offers three sets of services: Marketing and Creative, Custom Music and Music Production, and Audio Post Production.

Prior to launching PopMark, Lisa was the Creative Director of Studio Unknown, an audio post facility and recording studio in Baltimore , MD owned by Hill. In this role, she oversaw the company's editorial, marketing, and creative communication efforts. Previously, she served as the Associate Director of TIVA-DC, an organization representing television, film, video, and web professionals in the Washington, DC region and was the Publications Division Manager at a Suburban, MD-based PR/communications firm.

Lisa has served as an editor on numerous publications, including four-color magazines and newsletters. For eight years, she served as the editor of TIVA-DC's monthly publication, and for five years, she served as the managing editor of ATTENTION! Magazine.
